Roman Abasy
Roman Abasy is a former member of Afghanistan's national taekwondo team, boasting six international medals and participation in over 30 global competitions. He is the founder of the Labkhand Charity Foundation, which provides education, sports, and mental health programs for street children, supports addiction recovery, empowers women through education and sports, and assists the families of Afghan security forces who lost their lives in the conflict.
In 2021, Roman relocated to Australia with the support of the Australian Olympic Committee after fleeing Afghanistan due to the Taliban's resurgence. Now based in the Fairfield LGA, he works as a Youth Worker at CORE Community Services, where he supports young people from refugee, migrant, and humanitarian backgrounds in their settlement journey.
